With very strict requirements to ensure complete integrity of ballast water tank coating systems, IMS was contracted by one of the world’s leading LNG carrier companies to perform repairs of ballast tank coatings onboard a class of their large LNG carriers. Typical problem areas were joints, weld seams, flat overhead areas and sharp edges where coating breakdown was evident. Considering the vessels being in service, a mix between scaffolding and rigging for safe access were utilized. With dangers of working aloft, a team of IMS well experienced and well trained riggers were assigned to carry out the work following strict safety procedures. All work was completed satisfactorily with no injuries or any non conformities of any kind.
Excellent cooperation was received from the Superintendent ashore and the ships staff making these projects a success.
